Radium Large Fuel Vent Charcoal Canister Universal

Application: Universal – EFI and carburetted fuel tank vent systems, incl. Radium fuel cell surge tanks
Part Type: Fuel vent charcoal canister (standard size)
Part Number: 20-1828-00, 20-1828-08, 20-1828-12

Radium fuel vent charcoal canisters filter fuel vapour odours from the fuel tank vent system on both EFI and carburetted vehicles. In Radium testing, a combustible gas detector read above 10,000 ppm at the vent without a canister and under 50 ppm with one fitted, while a dry break dump can flow test showed a negligible pressure drop.

The standard-size 20-1828 canister holds about five times more activated carbon than the compact version, so it needs less frequent servicing. Vibratory-packed activated carbon sits inside a 150 micron strainer and anodised aluminium baffle so no loose carbon can escape, and the canister can be recharged with a service kit.

Key Features

  • Vapour Filtration: Reduces outlet fuel vapour to under 50 ppm in Radium testing
  • High Flow: 16AN ORB (1-5/16"-12) female ports, usable interchangeably as inlet or outlet
  • Drain Ports: Two 4AN ORB (7/16"-20) drain ports with preinstalled plugs – one can take a petcock drain kit
  • Contained Media: Activated carbon inside a 150 micron strainer and anodised aluminium baffle
  • Construction: CNC machined 6061 aluminium, type-II anodised
  • Serviceable: Recharge with fresh carbon and a new strainer using service kit 20-1828-SK

Available Configurations

  • 20-1828-00: Universal – includes two 16AN ORB male to 10AN ORB female couplers
  • 20-1828-08: Standard flow – for 1/2" fuel vent hose; pairs with vent kit 20-0484-08
  • 20-1828-12: High flow – for 3/4" fuel vent hose; pairs with vent kit 20-0484-12, and the 3/4" barb accepts an air filter directly

Optional Parts

Important Notes

  • A section of vent hose upstream of the air filter must sit higher than the fuel filler
  • Vent line loops are recommended to keep debris out of the fuel system
  • Mount the air filter at the rear of the vehicle, away from the exhaust
  • Most classic car tanks use a 1/4" (6mm), 5/16" (8mm) or 3/8" (10mm) vent line
  • Installation instructions are available in the Instructions tab
